What comes to mind when someone mentions life settlements? Is it good for your client? How do you know? Should you/can you, as a CPA, take an active role? Life insurance policy owners are lapsing their policies at an alarming rate. Your clients, especially senior clients, are getting bombarded with direct marketing by life settlement buyers who seek to capitalize on your clients’ lack of knowledge about life insurance fair market value. Direct marketing circumvents CPAs and leaves vulnerable policy owners without representation resulting in grossly undervalued offers.
